The past few years have seen a revolution in the replacement of missing teeth. Dental implants offer the chance to have secure restorations that look and feel like real teeth. When we lose teeth, the bone that used to support the root begins to resorb, changing the shape of the jaw. Other teeth are put at risk by having to bear the extra strain of chewing and, where several teeth are missing, the shape of the face can alter due to changes in muscle tone and the loss of support for lips and cheeks. Placing implants into the jaw helps to maintain the bone and prevent these changes.
Here at T2 Dental we have chosen the Bicon Dental Implant System. Renowned for it’s excellent aesthetics, the Bicon system has been used worldwide since 1985. The simple design uses a unique short implant that can be placed where other implant solutions cannot, often avoiding more complex and costly procedures. We regularly receive referrals from other dentists and oral surgeons to place a Bicon implant where other techniques have failed. The unique design of the restorative part of the implant also means you can always be assured of a natural looking gum line and a beautiful smile.
Alun has been using Bicon Dental Implants since 2008. He and Debbie originally trained in the system in Boston USA, where the company is based. Alun has since travelled several times to attend courses in Cartagena, Colombia, where Bicon do many of their clinical trials, and in Rome. He has set up the South West Bicon Users Group, which meets regularly, allowing local Bicon practitioners to meet and discuss cases, share tips and exchange ideas. He was recently thrilled to be asked to speak at the Bicon International VIP Meeting at the Harvard Club in Boston.
